Summary: The Maintenance Engineer role at a leading defence manufacturer in Stevenage involves supporting day-to-day operations and conducting repairs on process equipment. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day support to operations teams.
- Conduct repairs on process equipment and environmental stress screening facilities.
- Use technical documentation (drawings, schematics, manuals) to provide guidance and carry out repairs.
- Apply knowledge of PPM to maintain equipment effectively.
- Perform accurate fault finding and repairs down to component level.
- Support continuous improvement and technical troubleshooting across the team.
- Mentor junior staff when requested by the line manager.
Key Skills:
- Minimum qualification: HNC in a relevant engineering subject.
- Proven experience in fault finding to component level.
- Ability to interpret and use instructions, handbooks, drawings, and specifications.
- Strong understanding and experience of Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM).
- Skilled in taking precise measurements down to component level.
- Experience working on manufacturing process equipment (experience with CCA manufacture desirable).
- Familiarity with vibration shakers and environmental chambers (desirable).
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Experience mentoring junior staff.
- Working knowledge of SAP (desirable).
