Summary: The Maintenance Engineer role involves providing electrical and multi-skilled maintenance engineering services at a heavy manufacturing site in Crewe. The contractor will focus on ensuring the reliability and performance of industrial production assets through reactive and planned maintenance. This position requires a strong electrical bias and experience in heavy industrial environments, with a shift pattern of 4 on 4 off, including days and nights.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide reactive breakdown support to minimize unplanned downtime across heavy industrial plant.
- Execute planned and preventative maintenance activities aligned with site maintenance schedules.
- Perform electrical fault diagnosis using schematics, diagnostics, and asset history.
- Identify and rectify recurring equipment faults, implementing permanent corrective actions.
- Maintain and optimize heavy plant and process equipment, including conveyors, motors, pumps, gearboxes, and drives.
- Conduct PLC fault-finding and interrogation to support rapid fault resolution and plant recovery.
- Support plant reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and safety teams to ensure safe and efficient operation of industrial plant.
- Support machinery modifications, upgrades, shutdown works, and refurbishment activities.
- Deliver all services in compliance with site health, safety, and permit-to-work systems.
Key Skills:
- Time-served engineer or demonstrable equivalent industry experience.
- Strong electrical bias with proven experience in heavy industrial or FMCG process manufacturing environments.
- Proven capability working with 3-phase electrical systems, motors, drives, inverters, and safety circuits.
- Experience in PLC fault-finding (Siemens, Allen Bradley, or similar).
- Previous experience providing services as a maintenance engineering contractor.
- Able to manage workload and priorities independently, working with minimal direction.
- Strong communication skills when liaising with site stakeholders.
- Availability to support a 4 on 4 off shift pattern, including days and nights.

Scope of Services
The successful contractor will provide electrical and multi-skilled maintenance engineering services to support the reliability, availability, and performance of heavy industrial production assets.
Services will be delivered using the contractor's own expertise, methods, and judgement to achieve agreed outcomes. There is no obligation to provide continuous work, and services are delivered without employee-style supervision, appraisal, or management.
