Summary: The Maintenance Engineer role at a leading food manufacturer in Cambridge involves supporting planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance for production and packaging machinery. The position requires electrical and mechanical fault finding, problem solving, and repairs, along with new machinery installations and project work. The successful candidate will work in a close-knit team and participate in a call-out rota. Key Responsibilities:

  • Support PPMs and reactive maintenance across all site production and packaging machinery, site services, and facilities.
  • Conduct electrical and mechanical fault finding, problem solving, and repairs.
  • Oversee new machinery installations and project work.
  • Perform PLC electrical fault finding.
  • Work on conveyors, mixers, baggers, production lines, packaging machinery, elevators, metal detectors, stitchers, labellers, and scanners.
  • Fix motors, gearboxes, bearings, pneumatics, chains, sprockets, control panels, sensors, safety circuits, pumps, blowers, and hydraulics.

Key Skills:

  • Mechanical biased engineer with electrical fault finding capabilities.
  • Comfortable working in a small team and flexible to working a call-out rota.
  • Completed a time-served apprenticeship.
  • Level 3 qualified or higher in engineering.
  • Electrical and mechanical fault finding skills.
  • Experience in fast-paced manufacturing, ideally food/FMCG.
  • Mechanical fabrication, fitting, and welding skills (beneficial).
  • Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics.
  • Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces.
  • 17th or 18th Edition qualified.
  • Able to work unsupervised.

Cambridge Monday:Friday 8am:5pm + 1 in 3 Week Call Out Rota GBP46,000 + Overtime Our client is a leading food manufacturer that is part of a larger European Group. Due to an up and coming retirement, they are looking for a maintenance engineer, to join their close knit team.

Knowledge, Skills And Experience

  • Ideally be a mechanical biased engineer, with electrical fault finding capabilities
  • Must be comfortable working in a small team, flexible to working a call out rota
  • Ideally have completed a time:served:apprenticeship
  • Level 3 qualified or higher in engineering
  • Electrical and mechanical fault finding skills
  • Must have previously have worked in fast:paced manufacturing, ideally food / FMCG
