Summary: The Maintenance Assistant (Building) is responsible for the upkeep of planted and paved areas, roads, and drainage systems at Trust properties, ensuring high maintenance standards. To carry out the maintenance of planted and paved areas, roads, and drainage systems to premises as directed, using mechanical equipment and hand tools. As part of a managed team, ensure that the grounds of all Trust properties are maintained to a high standard. Assist building, mechanical, and electrical tradesmen as instructed. Undertaking maintenance, repairs, minor improvement and capital work across the Trust and its contracted customers as directed by management, ensuring compliance with Trust safety standards and procedures. The role would be principally based on the Trust site at Winchester, however dependant on the needs of the service it may be required to work on the other site locations (including Andover & Basingstoke). To carry out maintenance works as directed by the Building Technician in a competent and efficient manner. Typical duties include grass cutting, pruning, litter collection, drain clearance, leaf sweeping, winter path gritting and all aspects of building work including emergency patch road repairs. To assist Building Craftspersons in carrying out construction, renewal and repair work as directed. To be prepared to work in hazardous areas taking all safety measures to prevent danger, avoid injury and prevent damage to equipment. To be aware of the performance and limitations of various tools and machines used and to exercise care and safety in their operation. To ensure that all work is carried out in a safe manner following the appropriate risk assessment at all times. Subject to an individual’s availability, work overtime to carry out emergency repairs as required by management. To attend training courses as required to maintain the ability to undertake the role. Provide training, technical advice and support to new Maintenance Assistants. Uses all relevant tools and equipment within safety guidelines as necessary for the completion of works.
