Summary: The Maintenance and Automation Engineer role focuses on providing tooling support for Airbus production jigs and fixtures, including maintenance, repair, and inspection. The position involves practical problem-solving related to tooling issues and the optimization of Numerical Control Programs for manufacturing processes. Additionally, the engineer will support industrial maintenance through diagnostics and technical specifications creation. Collaboration with external suppliers and participation in preventative maintenance schedules are also key aspects of the role.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide tooling support for maintenance, repair, rectification, and inspection of Airbus production jigs and fixtures.
- Participate in practical problem-solving activities related to tooling issues.
- Prepare and develop periodic preventative maintenance schedules for bespoke production tooling.
- Engage with external suppliers for project management and delivery of tooling maintenance.
- Maintain and optimize bespoke Numerical Control Programs for 5 Axis CNC drilling machines.
- Support complex diagnostics of integrated industrial systems and troubleshoot malfunctions.
- Evaluate and repair damaged tooling and set up new tooling before use.
- Devise and implement periodical maintenance and inspection for manufacturing and assembly tooling.
- Provide diagnostic feedback and support the creation of technical specifications for maintenance topics.
- Participate in Total Preventative Maintenance meetings and support obsolescence analysis of equipment.

- Essential NC programming knowledge.
- HNC or >10 years experience in Jig and Tool Design/Engineering/Production Maintenance.
- Aware of tooling maintenance requirements.
- Proficient in Catia V5 and IT literate.
- Ability to prepare tooling specifications and maintenance plans.
- Knowledge of Fanuc / Siemens NC systems.
- Desirable experience in dimensional metrology systems and hydraulic/electric systems.
- Knowledge of PLC diagnostics and software change management.
- Experience in mechanical engineering and additive manufacturing (3D printing).
- Familiarity with Google Suite and Microsoft operating platforms.
- Knowledge of robotics and automation.
- Aware of machine directive legislation and requirements.
