Summary: The Mainframe Middleware Infrastructure Engineer (CICS Liberty) role involves supporting a major enterprise transformation programme by engineering, configuring, optimizing, and supporting modern Java workloads within CICS Liberty environments. The position requires strong expertise in CICS, z/OS, and IBM WebSphere Liberty. The role is hybrid, requiring 2-3 days onsite in either London or Edinburgh. This is a contract position lasting 6-12 months with an excellent day rate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engineering, configuration, optimization, and support of Java workloads in CICS Liberty environments
- Deep knowledge of CICS systems engineering and z/OS infrastructure
- CICS region setup, configuration, and JVM server management
- IBM WebSphere Liberty administration and runtime configuration
- Java workload management, JVM tuning, and performance optimization
- RACF, TLS, certificates, keyrings, and security integration
- REST/API enablement and modern integration practices
- Problem determination using dumps, traces, logs, and SMF data
- Capacity planning, resilience, HA/DR, and operational support
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated deployments, and release processes
- Monitoring, observability, and middleware operational management
Key Skills:
