What you'll be working towards
We're looking for an experienced Microsoft 365 Technical Product Expert to act as the primary strategic and technical advisor to the Head of Product within a major UK Central Government department.
This is a highly influential role focused on shaping the future direction of the organisation's Microsoft 365 product offering. You'll leverage your deep expertise across the M365 ecosystem to provide strategic guidance, establish best-practice governance models, and help define a world-class roadmap for productivity, collaboration, security and adoption.
Working closely with senior stakeholders, product leaders, cyber security teams and technical specialists, you'll ensure the department maximises the value of its Microsoft investment while maintaining a secure and compliant environment.
What you'll be doing
- Partner directly with the Head of Product to provide strategic advice on Microsoft 365 capabilities, licensing, roadmap planning and emerging technologies.
- Evaluate the current M365 landscape, identifying opportunities to improve productivity, collaboration, governance and adoption.
- Design governance frameworks and best-practice approaches for the rollout of new M365 services and features.
- Translate Microsoft's Evergreen release cycles and roadmap changes into clear, actionable recommendations.
- Advise on the evolution of Microsoft 365 technologies, including Copilot, Power Platform and the wider Microsoft ecosystem.
- Work with Cyber Security and Information Assurance teams to ensure alignment with central government security standards and Official-Sensitive requirements.
- Provide technical leadership on M365 architecture, governance, compliance and service optimisation.
- Develop product strategies that balance user experience, business value and security requirements.
- Support senior stakeholders by translating complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes and recommendations.
- Identify risks, dependencies and opportunities across the Microsoft 365 estate and provide mitigation strategies.
- Produce strategic documentation, governance models, standards and roadmap artefacts.
- Contribute to the development of a high-performing Microsoft 365 Product function.
About you
- Proven experience as a Microsoft 365 SME, M365 Architect, Modern Workplace Consultant or Microsoft Product Specialist.
- Deep and current knowledge of the Microsoft 365 ecosystem, including Teams, SharePoint Online, Exchange Online, OneDrive, Entra ID, Power Platform and Microsoft Copilot.
- Extensive experience designing and delivering enterprise-scale Microsoft 365 adoption, deployment and governance strategies.
- Strong understanding of M365 tenant governance, compliance, information protection and security best practices.
- Experience managing Evergreen life cycle updates and translating technical roadmaps into business-focused strategies.
- Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to senior non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of modern workplace technologies and user adoption methodologies.
- Experience producing strategic recommendations, governance frameworks and roadmap documentation.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills.
Desirable
- Experience supporting Heads of Product, Product Owners or Digital Leaders within UK Central Government.
- Knowledge of central government security standards and Official-Sensitive environments.
- Active SC Clearance.
- Microsoft enterprise certifications.
- Experience with Microsoft Copilot implementation and adoption strategies.
- Knowledge of Power Platform governance and enterprise enablement.
