M365/Teams & SharePoint Migration Consultant

Description

We are looking for an experienced Microsoft 365/Teams & SharePoint Migration Specialist to support a large-scale digital workplace and data migration programme within a complex public-sector environment. The successful consultant will take a hands-on role in migrating unstructured data from Legacy network drives/file shares into the Microsoft 365 environment, primarily SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams and OneDrive.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and support migrations from Legacy file shares/network drives into SharePoint Online, Teams and OneDrive
• Assess existing file structures, permissions, ownership and data ahead of migration
• Design appropriate target structures across SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive
• Plan and execute migration activities while minimising disruption to users
• Manage permissions, security groups, access controls and information architecture
• Identify and resolve migration issues including unsupported files, permissions and data quality
• Work closely with technical, security, information governance and business stakeholders
• Support testing, validation and post-migration activities
• Provide technical guidance and knowledge transfer to internal teams
• Help establish governance and best practice across the Microsoft 365 collaboration environment

Required Experience

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft 365
• Excellent SharePoint Online, Microsoft Teams and OneDrive knowledge
• Demonstrable experience delivering large-scale file-share to M365 migrations
• Experience migrating Legacy network/personal/team drives into modern M365 environments
• Strong understanding of SharePoint permissions, governance and information architecture
• Experience with Microsoft migration tooling and/or third-party migration tools
• PowerShell experience within an M365 environment
• Strong stakeholder engagement and troubleshooting capability

Additional Information

Experience working within local government, wider public sector or another large, complex organisation would be particularly useful.

This is a hands-on delivery role and we are particularly interested in consultants who can demonstrate previous responsibility for end-to-end M365 migration projects.
