Key Skills:

  • Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.

  • Understanding of Health & Safety legislation including CDM and Nuclear Site License requirements.

Reporting to an Engineering Lead within the Review & Acceptance Branch of the Joint Design Office (JDO), the post-holder will be an I&C or electrical Engineer, contributing to the review and acceptance of engineering queries raised by the site DMIC (Design, Manufacture, Install and commission) Contractor on the I&C scope across the CI/BOP and Nuclear Island buildings.
Particularly, the post holder will support I&C changes Review and Acceptance during the commissioning phases of the Unit 2 Polar Crane, the Demin Water production Plant, the auxiliary transformer, and support hydrotests of key Turbine Hall components.

The role will be focused on the I&C discipline but will be interfaced with other disciplines and with several parties, such the site Contractors (composed of main suppliers and sub-suppliers), Construction teams, Quality teams, Project Management teams, or Design teams (embedded within the JDO organisation on site, or in back office).

Principal Accountabilities

* Responding to General Queries, Non-Conformances, Change Request, and Exemption Requests originating from the DMIC Contractors on site, with the support of the Responsible Designer or site Experts when needed.
* Provide adequate oversight to ensure the Nuclear Safety and Environmental Regulation requirements are met.
* Challenge design decisions so that engineering and design aligns with the project strategy.
* Assist in co-ordinating support from other external organisations.
* Contribute to the resolution and closure of Open Points.
* Assess technical risk and subsequently address this risk.
* Maintain a strong relationship with Responsible Designer
* Report operationally to an Engineering Lead.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience

* Degree or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
* Experience in I&C design, installation and/or commissioning.
* Experience applying multi-disciplinary technical knowledge within the nuclear industry.
* Knowledge of the construction / installation industry.
* Knowledge of Health & Safety legislation including CDM and Nuclear Site License requirements.
* Ability to influence a diverse range of stakeholders, particularly those in a site environment.
* Ability to work independently, be pro-active, report on and escalate relevant issues.
