Key Responsibilities:
- Review mechanical / electrical drawings, specifications, and project documentation.
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor progress and quality of installations.
- Verify compliance of materials, equipment, and workmanship with approved specifications.
- Identify defects or non-conformances and coordinate corrective actions with contractors.
- Maintain detailed records of inspections, test results, and deviations from plans.
- Attend project meetings and provide updates on mechanical systems status.
- Review and approve contractor invoices and change orders related to mechanical work.
- Provide guidance and support on mechanical/electrical matters to clients or project managers.
Key Skills:
- HNC / HND / Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Minimum 10 years experience as a Mechanical / Electrical Engineer.
- 5 years supervisory/lead engineer/project engineer experience preferred.
- Experience as an M&E Clerk of Works/Engineering Supervisor or similar role.
- SSSTS or SMSTS certificate.
- Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and specifications.
- Strong knowledge of building codes, regulations, and industry standards.
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.

M&E Clerk of Works – Lincoln £40-45 per hour (outside IR35) + average 45-50hr working week + excellent overtime rates + highly skilled, collaborative team environment + long-term contract work (12months – 3yrs and rolling)
M&E Clerk of Works responsibilities include:
- Review mechanical / Electrical drawings, specifications, and other project documentation to understand the design intent and requirements
- Conduct regular site inspections to monitor the progress and quality of mechanical & Electrical installations, such as HVAC, plumbing, and fire protection systems
- Verify that materials, equipment, and workmanship comply with the approved specifications and drawings
- Identify any defects or non-conformances and work with the contractors to ensure timely corrective actions are taken
- Maintain detailed records of site inspections, test results, and any issues or deviations from the approved plans
- Attend project meetings and provide updates on the status of the mechanical systems
- Review and approve contractor invoices and change orders related to the mechanical scope of work
- Provide guidance and support to the client or project manager on mechanical / Electrical related matters
M&E Clerk of Works profile:
- HNC / HND / Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or a related technical field
- Min 10yrs experience as a Mechanical / Electrical Engineer with ideally 5yrs supervisory / Lead Engineer / Project Engineer status
- Experience as an M&E Clerk of Works/Engineering Supervisor or similar, overseeing multi-disciplined contractors on site
- SSSTS or SMSTS certificate
- Proficient in reading and interpreting mechanical / Electrical drawings, specifications, and other technical documents
- Strong knowledge of relevant building codes, regulations, and industry standards
- Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with contractors, clients, and project team members
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and priorities
