The University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust is seeking to appoint 2 x Locum Fixed Term Consultants in Plastic Surgery. These posts are for 2 Locum Consultant Plastic Surgeons with an interest in microsurgery, breast reconstruction, skin cancer and hands. These are locum posts initially for a 12-month fixed term contract in the Musculoskeletal & Specialist Surgery Clinical Management Group (MSS CMG) with the majority of services being based at Leicester Royal Infirmary, Northampton General Hospital & Kettering General Hospital, with on-call provision being carried out at the Leicester Royal Infirmary.
These new Locum Consultant posts are part of UHL & UHN working in strengthening their medical workforces and ensuring closer operational collaboration, focusing on improving sustainability within our workforces. This is an exciting step forward that strengthens both UHL and UHN, while maintaining flexibility and choice for colleagues and supporting our shared responsibility to deliver high-quality care in a challenging environment.
The ideal candidate will have experience and expertise in microsurgery, breast reconstruction, skin cancer management (including sentinel lymph node biopsy), and hand trauma. The new appointees will work alongside the Consultant Plastic Surgeons and wider team to ensure a comprehensive and well co-ordinated Plastic Surgery services across UHL & UHN The overriding purpose is to support the provision of highest quality patient care through personal actions and continuous improvement.
Responsibility for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of an illness and the proper functioning of the department Cover for colleagues’ annual leave and other authorised absences where job plans allow To participate in service development and business planning in collaboration with the other Consultants in the department, the management and CMG, along with local GP’s and commissioners within the CCG’s Professional supervision and management of junior medical staff including the observation of local employment and human resource policies and procedures Responsibility for carrying out teaching, examination and accreditation duties as required and contributing to undergraduate, postgraduate and continuing medical education activity, locally and nationally The post holder is expected to respond in a timely manner to legitimate requests from Trust officers – this might include investigations into incidents or complaints The post holder is expected to participate in professional continuing medical education; study leave is provided for this purpose.
