Summary: The role is for a Locum Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine, focusing on prosthetic and neurological rehabilitation. Key Responsibilities:

- Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education, audit, governance, and service development.
- Support research activity and engage in appraisal, revalidation, and continuing professional development.
- Undertake other duties in agreement with the Divisional Medical Director.

We are seeking to a appoint a consultant in rehabilitation medicine with expertise in prosthetic and rehabilitation medicine to join other consultants in Rehabilitation Medicine
This is a 6 PA Locum Consultant post in Rehabilitation Medicine with a balanced split between prosthetic rehabilitation and neurological rehabilitation. The post is based primarily at the West Midlands Rehabilitation Centre (WMRC), with inpatient responsibilities at Moseley Hall Hospital.
Key Clinical Duties
Outpatient Responsibilities – WMRC
The post holder will deliver specialist outpatient services including:
- Amputee & Prosthetic Rehabilitation Clinics
- Leadership of satellite amputee/prosthetic clinics
- Holistic rehabilitation planning, prosthetic prescription review, and functional outcome optimisation
- Neurological Rehabilitation Clinics
- Including MS clinics and general neurological rehabilitation clinics
- Management of complex long-term neurological conditions
Clinics are delivered within a highly developed multidisciplinary environment, including physiotherapy, occupational therapy, nursing, psychology, prosthetics, orthotics, and rehabilitation engineering.
On-Call Commitment
Participation in a 1:6 non-residential on-call rota
Telephone advice supported by resident junior medical staff
No routine consultant weekend ward rounds at present
Teaching, Audit, and Service Development
The post holder will:
- Contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate education
- Participate in audit, governance, and service development
- Support research activity as appropriate
- Engage fully in appraisal, revalidation, and continuing professional development
Management of Leadership responsibilities
To undertake other duties commensurate with this grade of post in agreement with the Divisional Medical Director of Adult and Specialists Rehabilitation Division
