Summary: The University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Locum Consultant in Haematopathology for a fixed-term contract of 4 months. The role involves contributing to a specialized reporting team, primarily focusing on lymphoma specimens and participating in multidisciplinary team meetings. The position is integral to providing diagnostic services for a large patient population across the region. The successful candidate will join an established team and will be expected to engage in both direct clinical care and educational activities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Haematopathology services, including microscopic reporting and participation in multidisciplinary team meetings.
- Contribute to the established Haematopathology subspecialist reporting team.
- Engage in direct clinical care activities, including the reporting of lymphoma specimens.
- Collaborate with the Wessex Genomics Laboratory Service.
- Participate in the development and implementation of a job plan in coordination with clinical leads.
- Share in cover arrangements for colleagues during absence or annual leave.
- Participate in educational activities, including undergraduate and postgraduate teaching.
Key Skills:
- MBBS or equivalent medical qualification.
- GMC registration with a licence to practise.
- FRCPath (or equivalent) qualification.
- Experience in Haematopathology reporting at consultant level.
- Ability to apply sound clinical judgement to problems.
- Effective teamwork skills in multi-professional settings.
- Evidence of participation in teaching activities.
