Summary: The role of Locum Consultant Breast Surgeon at University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust is a fixed-term position primarily aimed at providing structured training and supervised clinical development in breast surgery. Wherever possible, emergency breast referrals are managed within the breast unit, during office hours. There is no requirement to participate in the General Surgery out of hours on call rota.

What Were Looking For: You will have responsibility specifically for providing high-quality training within the breast unit alongside colleagues and clinical leads for that area. You will be responsible for the training and supervision of junior medical staff that work with them and will devote time to this activity on a regular basis You will not have a formal Research component to their job plan however all clinicians are expected to actively support ongoing research themes and projects in line with the expectations of a vibrant academic hospital, including recruitment to clinical trials. You should be up to date with Good Clinical Practice and regularly engage with our dedicated Clinical Trials Team.
