We are looking to appoint a Whole-Time Locum Consultant Hand Surgeon to Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust based at Sheffield Hand Centre, Northern General Hospital. This is a fixed term post initially for 3 months, with the possibility of extension. This post is open to orthopaedic surgeons with an interest in hand surgery. Any candidate who is unable for personal reasons to work full-time will be eligible to be considered for the post; if such a person is appointed, modification of the job content will be discussed on a personal basis with the Trust in consultation with consultant colleagues.
The appointee will, together with Consultant colleagues, be responsible for the provision of the Elective Hand and Wrist Trauma Service. The appointee will undertake outpatient clinics for both elective and non-elective patients plus trauma and elective operating sessions. Ward round duties and on call commitments will be discussed with the successful candidate. The appointee will take equal responsibility with existing Consultants for the proper functioning of the Hand Centre service, working with clinical and managerial colleagues towards achieving and maintain national waiting times and developing clinical pathways in line with the maximum 18 week patient pathway guarantee. The successful candidates will work according to the terms and conditions of the national consultant contract.
