Summary: The role of Locum Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist involves providing part-time mental health services for children and adolescents in Gwynedd and Anglesey, covering maternity leave for 12 months. The successful candidate will work within a multidisciplinary team, focusing on complex mental health conditions and contributing to clinical governance and service development. This position also includes teaching and supervision responsibilities, as well as opportunities for professional development. The role is part of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, the largest health organization in Wales.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive child and adolescent mental health services.
- Develop services for children with complex mental health conditions.
- Teach and supervise specialty doctors and the multidisciplinary team.
- Participate in clinical governance and committee work.
- Contribute to the development of a 7 days a week care service.
- Attend regular departmental meetings and undertake study leave.
Key Skills:
- GMC Registration.
- Specialist Registrar able to take up post within 3 months of completing CCST.
- Diagnosis and treatment of mental illness in children and adolescents.
- Effective time management.
- Experience in community CAMHS settings.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation (Children Act, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act).
- Excellent communication skills.
- Effective leadership abilities.
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Approved training status and willingness to become an Approved Clinician.
