Summary: The role of Locum Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist involves providing part-time mental health services for children and adolescents in Gwynedd and Anglesey, covering maternity leave for 12 months. The successful candidate will work within a multi-disciplinary team, focusing on complex mental health conditions and contributing to clinical governance and service development. The position includes teaching and supervision responsibilities, as well as opportunities for personal development in specific areas of interest. The role is part of Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board, the largest health organization in Wales.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide comprehensive child and adolescent mental health services.
- Assist in the development of services for children with complex mental health conditions.
- Engage in teaching and supervision of specialty doctors and the multi-disciplinary team.
- Participate in clinical governance and committee work.
- Contribute to the management roles within the team.
- Attend departmental meetings and undertake study leave as per job plan.
Key Skills:
- GMC Registration.
- Specialist Registrar able to take up post within 3 months of completing CCST.
- Diagnosis and treatment of mental illness in children and adolescents.
- Effective time management skills.
- Experience in community CAMHS settings.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation (Children Act, Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act).
- Excellent communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Approved training status and willingness to undertake further training.
