Summary: The role of Locum Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist involves joining a Community Neurological Rehabilitation Team to assess and manage adults with complex neurological conditions. The therapist will work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to support communication and swallowing needs in various community settings. This position is locum-based, full-time, and offers the potential for contract extension. The ideal candidate will have relevant experience and qualifications in speech and language therapy.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide specialist assessment and therapy for adults with acquired communication and swallowing disorders
- Develop and implement patient-centred treatment plans
- Collaborate with physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nurses, and other professionals in the MDT
- Support patients and their families with education and strategies for managing long-term conditions
- Maintain accurate documentation in accordance with HCPC and trust guidelines
- Contribute to service development and clinical audits where appropriate
Key Skills:
- HCPC-registered Speech and Language Therapist
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Speech and Language Therapy
- Minimum 12 months' experience working with adults in neurorehabilitation
- Competent in managing dysphagia (must have up-to-date dysphagia training and competencies)
- Excellent communication, organisational, and MDT collaboration skills
- UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (essential for community visits)
- Enhanced DBS clearance (required)
