Summary: The role of Local Government Accountant at Cheshire East Council involves providing senior financial capacity within the Strategic Finance and Accounting Team on a temporary contract. Key Responsibilities:
- Budget setting and in-year financial monitoring
- Coordination and management of the Capital Programme
- Preparation of year-end accounts and financial statements
- Supporting the external audit process
- Treasury management and strategic financial planning
- Technical accounting and the implementation of standards such as IFRS 16
Key Skills:
- A recognised professional accountancy qualification – ideally CIPFA, but CGMA, ACCA or equivalent are also welcome
- Experience in a Local Authority or wider public sector finance environment
- Excellent communication and IT skills
- Ability to analyse, present and explain complex financial information to a variety of stakeholders
- A proactive and flexible approach with the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment
