Summary: The Linux Systems Engineer role involves designing, building, implementing, and supporting innovative Linux systems for a leading software engineering and technology company in London. The position requires expertise in Linux administration, Ansible, Packer, and AWS, with a focus on system availability, performance, reliability, and security. This is a hybrid role with an initial 6-month contract, classified as inside IR35, offering a competitive daily rate. Key Responsibilities:

Key Skills:
- Proven experience in Linux administration and engineering.
- Understanding of RPM packaging, systems, networking, and storage.

- Skills in Packer, including HCL/JSON templates.
- Strong CI/CD understanding.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Motivated and proactive approach to work.

Linux Systems Engineer - £550 per day
Our client is a leading software engineering and technology company, building innovative solutions for the financial services, ecommerce and data analytics in London. Offering hybrid, flexible, working they’re looking to hire an experienced Linux Engineer and good experience across Ansible, Packer and AWS. An initial 6 month contract, inside IR35 and paying ~£550 per day.
From day one you’ll be involved in the design, build, implementation and support of innovative Linux systems with a focus on availability, performance, reliability, and security - From bare-metal through to virtualisation, AWS Cloud and automation. You’ll have the opportunity to work across a range of projects, tools and technologies and have real ownership of your work – A very varied challenge!
Requirements:
- Proven experience of Linux administration and engineering
- Great understanding of RPM packaging, systems, networking and storage
- Knowledge of Ansible and DevOps methods
- Packer skills - HCL / JSON templates, builder vs. provisioner distinction etc
- Strong CI/CD understanding
- Excellent communication skills and a motivated, proactive, approach to work
- The ability to take the lead on work and drive projects forwards
