Summary: We are seeking an experienced Linux System Administrator to support the migration of a key enterprise application from Solaris to Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). The role requires extensive experience in Unix-to-Linux migrations, Oracle database environments, and strong troubleshooting and automation skills. The ideal candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure a seamless transition and maintain system performance and security. This position is critical for the successful execution of the migration project over a 6-month duration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and support the migration of enterprise applications from Solaris to Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
- Collaborate with the DBA team to support the Oracle database migration during the platform transition.
- Plan, configure, and maintain RHEL servers in physical and virtualized environments (e.g., VMware).
- Develop and maintain infrastructure-as-code and automation scripts using tools such as Ansible, Shell scripting, or Python.
- Ensure system security, availability, and performance by applying patches, monitoring systems, and conducting regular audits.
- Work with application owners, developers, and other infrastructure teams to ensure a seamless migration.
- Perform root cause analysis on system failures and implement long-term fixes.
- Maintain documentation for system configurations, processes, and standard operating procedures.
Key Skills:
- 9+ years of experience as a Linux System Administrator (preferably in enterprise environments).
