Summary: The Linux Engineer role involves providing expert support in a fast-paced UNIX environment, requiring strong technical skills and certifications. The position is based in Knutsford, UK, and requires interaction with senior stakeholders across various regions. The contract is set to last until November 30, 2026, with a pay rate of £483 per day through PAYE via an umbrella company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in technology with working experience in Unix
  • Must be Red Hat Certified and ITII Foundation certified.
  • Working experience Over 6 years in fast-paced UNIX environment.
  • Excellent communication and articulation skill
  • Ability to drive interaction with senior stakeholders.
  • Comfortable to work in APAC/EMEA and weekends
  • Unix Administration and troubleshooting skills, clear concepts of LVM, user management & operating system
  • Troubleshooting on filesystem & user access related issues.
  • Deep understanding of UNIX OS & troubleshooting on various UNIX OS issues
  • Knowledge of automation, Chef, powerbroker technologies
  • AWS/cloud knowledge would be an added advantage
  • Experience in remote troubleshooting and diagnosis of UNIX issues
  • Work with vendors like Linux & Oracle in coordinating hardware/software issues
  • Understanding and troubleshooting experience of Veritas volume manager and Veritas cluster
  • Basic Tivoli Storage Manager Client administration & able to troubleshoot backup failures & remediate the same.
  • Good understanding of network connectivity and protocols with respect to the UNIX platform
  • Exposure on ticketing tools like Service Now
  • Understanding & experience working on DNS, FTP & NFS.

Key Skills:

  • Engineering graduate with 6-8 years of experience in supporting enterprise Unix
  • RedHat Linux and IT II foundation certified.
  • Excellent knowledge of Veritas volume manager, Veritas cluster and VVR
  • Knowledge on AIX/Cloud
