Summary: The role of Linux Engineer involves designing, building, implementing, and supporting innovative Linux systems with a focus on performance, reliability, and security. Key Responsibilities:
- Design, build, implement, and support Linux systems.

- Work with bare-metal, virtualisation, AWS Cloud, and automation.
- Take ownership of projects and drive them forward.
Key Skills:
- Proven experience in Linux administration and engineering.
- Understanding of RPM packaging, systems, networking, and storage.
- Knowledge of Ansible and DevOps methods.
- Skills in Packer, including HCL/JSON templates.
- Strong understanding of CI/CD processes.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to work.

Linux Engineer - 6 months - £600 per day
Our client is a leading SaaS and technology company, building innovative solutions for Data Management, Analytics and Machine Learning. They’re looking to hire an experienced Linux Engineer and good experience across Ansible, Packer and AWS. 2 days a week in the office hybrid, inital 6 months, inside IR35 and paying up to £600 per day.
From day one you’ll be involved in the design, build, implementation and support of innovative Linux systems with a focus on availability, performance, reliability, and security - From bare-metal through to virtualisation, AWS Cloud and automation. You’ll have the opportunity to work across a range of projects, tools and technologies and have real ownership of your work – A very varied challenge!
Requirements:
- Proven experience of Linux administration and engineering
- Great understanding of RPM packaging, systems, networking and storage
- Knowledge of Ansible and DevOps methods
- Packer skills - HCL / JSON templates, builder vs. provisioner distinction etc
- Strong CI/CD understanding
- Excellent communication skills and a motivated, proactive, approach to work
- The ability to take the lead on work and drive projects forwards
