Summary: The Linux Administrator role is focused on providing application support, infrastructure administration, and managing HPC resources primarily in a Red Hat Linux environment. The position requires SC security clearance and involves troubleshooting and resolving support tickets within specified SLAs. The role is based on-site in Stevenage and is offered for a duration of 6 months. The successful candidate will need to demonstrate strong practical experience in Linux administration and related technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Application support, including installation and upgrades
  • Provision of HPC resources (mainly for system engineering, eg Matlab)
  • Infrastructure administration (Red Hat Linux/Kickstart/VM Ware Systems)
  • Information Management, in liaison with support groups (Data Centre Service, Networks)
  • Hardware diagnostics
  • Shell scripting
  • Management, investigation and resolution of support tickets within the SLA
  • System updates (applications, middleware, database)

  • Linux Administration: RHEL or similar (very strong practical application and experience)
