Summary: The Linux Administrator role is a contract position focused on supporting and optimizing enterprise-grade Linux infrastructure within a large-scale Life Sciences project. The successful candidate will work with Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9 and high-performance computing platforms, ensuring system stability, security, and scalability. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential, along with performance testing and automation responsibilities. Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support for high-end GPU workstations in an enterprise environment
- Install, configure, and maintain enterprise software solutions on Red Hat Enterprise Linux platforms
- Troubleshoot complex Linux system issues using structured diagnostic approaches
- Support large-scale, project-based initiatives through close collaboration with technical teams
- Conduct performance testing on HPC platforms using custom scripts and tools
- Analyse system performance and utilisation data to produce actionable insights
- Prepare detailed technical reports covering system performance, resource usage, and key metrics
- Present findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Lead or support technical meetings to ensure project alignment and delivery
- Ensure systems meet security, compatibility, and operational standards
Key Skills:
- Proven hands-on experience as a Linux Administrator or Systems Engineer
- Strong expertise in Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9
- Proficiency in shell scripting and automation
- Experience supporting high-end GPU workstation environments
- Strong Linux troubleshooting and performance tuning skills
- Experience working with HPC platforms, including performance testing
- Ability to analyse system data and translate it into meaningful insights
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively with diverse teams
