We are seeking an independent technical specialist to deliver a critical data migration and integration work-package.
The objective is to execute the technical migration, transfer and structural validation of Legacy application data into an open-source database environment, then configure the links between these data assets and a centralised viewing platform.
This engagement is strictly about structural data preservation and verification - ensuring the full, complete and verifiable transfer of historical records at a structural level. You will work with a high degree of technical autonomy alongside an established delivery team, providing the technical foundation, verification logs and data mapping that underpin downstream validation and operational hand-off.
This is a hands-on engineering role, working at pace within strict information governance.
Must have demonstrable expertise in either Specialism A or Specialism B, plus all core prerequisites:
Specialism A Legacy Database Architecture & Engineering
- Proven track record writing, navigating and manipulating M, MUMPS or InterSystems ObjectScript
- Deep operational familiarity with hierarchical/multidimensional database architectures (InterSystems Caché/IRIS or GT.M)
- Experience running extraction scripts and handling raw data validation at global/database level
Specialism B Legacy Application Data & Migration Operations
- Hands-on experience managing, querying or supporting complex Legacy application data structures at scale
- Experience migrating or extracting historical data from proprietary or end-of-life systems
- Clear understanding of how structured records are organised within Legacy applications
Core prerequisites (all required):
- Practical data mapping, schema alignment or data-exchange interface configuration between disparate systems
- Proficiency across both Windows and Unix/Linux command-line environments
- Medium-complexity SQL for data verification and reporting
- Active ICO registration and proven experience within strict information governance, GDPR and security frameworks
- Able to work autonomously under minimal supervision, managing deliverables to strict timelines and reporting risks transparently
- You must provide your own corporate equipment - secure laptop/Workstation, connectivity, MFA device and active cyber-assurance/anti-virus tooling (the client provides secure VDI/account access for all sensitive work)
Please do not apply if:
- You cannot demonstrate either the Legacy database engineering or the Legacy data migration track
- You expect to rebuild original application logic - this is structural preservation and verification only
- You require close supervision or cannot manage deliverables autonomously
- You are not ICO registered or lack information governance/GDPR experience
- You cannot provide your own cyber-assured equipment
