Summary: The Senior Legal Officer role involves supervising the Claims and Litigation team within a large public sector organization in Warrington. The position requires overseeing legal processes related to claims and litigation, ensuring equitable and cost-effective management from inception to trial. Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise a team of 4 Claims and Litigation Officers handling over 2,000 claims annually.
- Provide expert advice across the company on all claims and litigation-related matters.
- Support and deputise for the Head of Claims and Debt Recovery.
- Conduct and complete all stages of legal proceedings including preparation of pleadings and trial preparation.
- Compile estimates for Project Managers assessing financial and public relations implications.
- Provide statistical reports and undertake day-to-day team management duties as delegated.
Key Skills:
- CILEX qualification as a “Fellow” or equivalent qualification, or significant experience in lieu of qualification.
- Associate of the Chartered Insurance Institute or a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives.
- Minimum three years post-qualification experience in claims and debt protocols.
- Proficient in handling general Civil Litigation.
- Good knowledge of water and sewerage law and the legal framework within the business.
- Proficiency in computer applications with strong oral and written communication skills.
- Leadership skills with the ability to motivate a team.
