About The Role
This is a varied and rewarding in-house legal role, offering the opportunity to work across the full breadth of university activity.
You will provide high-quality, pragmatic legal advice to colleagues across academic schools and professional services, supporting effective decision-making while managing legal risk.
Acting as a key contact within the Legal Services team, you will independently handle a wide range of matters, escalating more complex or high-risk issues where appropriate.
Key Responsibilities Will Include
- Provide expert legal advice across a broad range of areas, including commercial, corporate, and governance matters
- Draft, review and negotiate a wide variety of contracts and agreements, including:
- Support the University in legal compliance and risk management, delivering clear, practical guidance
- Advise on when to engage external legal counsel and manage those relationships effectively
- Partnership and collaboration agreements
- Joint ventures and franchise arrangements
- International and apprenticeship-related agreements
We Are Looking For
a Confident, Collaborative Legal Professional Who Can Provide Practical, Solution-focused Advice In a Complex And Fast-paced Environment, Who Has The Following
Qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with a proven track record of post-qualification experience
Strong expertise in contract and commercial law
Proven ability to build relationships and influence at all levels
Highly organised, with attention to detail
Commitment to continuous professional development
Experience working in the Higher Education or public sector would be an advantage
Experience in dealing with complaints and litigation / dispute resolution would also be an advantage
