Summary: An exciting opportunity for a commercially minded Legal Counsel has arisen within a dynamic financial services business in Manchester. Key Responsibilities:
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide variety of commercial agreements (including supplier contracts, tech agreements, NDAs, and outsourcing arrangements)
- Advising internal stakeholders on legal and regulatory issues relating to financial products, partnerships, and business operations
- Supporting the development and launch of new products and services, ensuring regulatory compliance (e.g. FCA, PRA, consumer duty)
- Collaborating with risk, compliance, product, and commercial teams to provide pragmatic and commercially sound legal advice
- Supporting regulatory projects and change programmes, including those relating to consumer credit, savings, or digital finance
- Helping to maintain and update internal legal policies, playbooks, and templates
- Monitoring legal and regulatory developments in the financial services space and updating the business accordingly
- Contributing to legal team operations and mentoring more junior team members where required
Key Skills:
- Qualified solicitor in England & Wales with 2–5 years’ PQE (or equivalent experience)
- Strong background in commercial law; financial services in-house or regulatory experience is essential
- Comfortable advising stakeholders at all levels in a fast-moving business
- Excellent communication skills, with a practical and solutions-driven mindset
- Able to manage competing priorities and work autonomously where needed
- Experience working in a regulated environment is highly desirable
