Summary: Our client, a specialist investment manager, is looking for a Legal Counsel for a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role involves working closely with the Chief Legal and Compliance Officer and encompasses both transactional and advisory legal work related to funds and financial services. The position is set within a collaborative environment that serves a diverse client base. Ideal candidates will possess Australian legal qualifications and relevant experience in investment management or financial services law.
Key Responsibilities:
- Partner with the business and assist a range of stakeholders with their legal requirements and enquiries in a timely and efficient manner.
- Your role will be both transactional and advisory, and will cover funds formation, operation and maintenance as well as financial services regulatory work (Chapter 7).
- You will support product development and provide legal advice across the product lifecycle.
- Assist in private equity transactions; shareholders agreements, venture capital, subscription agreements and convertible note deeds.
- Advise on company secretarial matters.
Key Skills:
- Australian legal qualifications and a current Australian practising certificate.
- Solid investment management and/or financial services law experience, gained from time spent in-house or in private practice.
- Strong commercial acumen and ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment.
- Effective written and verbal communication skills.
