A leading European passenger transport business is seeking a commercially focused Legal Counsel to join its Group Legal team on a 12-month fixed-term contract.
This is a broad commercial role supporting major procurement projects, strategic tender opportunities and complex commercial arrangements across the UK and Europe.
Working closely with business stakeholders, you will play a key role in helping the organisation secure and deliver significant contracts while managing legal and commercial risk.
Role
- Lead legal support on major procurement exercises, tender submissions and bid opportunities.
- Review, draft and negotiate commercial contracts, concession agreements and framework arrangements.
- Advise on public and private sector procurement matters throughout the bid lifecycle.
- Assess legal and commercial risk and provide practical, solution-focused advice to stakeholders.
- Support business development and growth initiatives across the UK and Europe.
- Work closely with Commercial, Procurement, Finance and operational teams to deliver strategic projects.
- Manage relationships with external counsel where required.
- Contribute to wider legal and governance initiatives across the Group.
The ideal candidate
- Qualified lawyer with 3-8 years' PQE.
- Strong commercial contracts experience gained in private practice or in-house.
- Experience supporting procurement, tendering, bid or concession processes.
- Ability to balance legal risk with commercial objectives.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
- Pragmatic, business-focused and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
- Exposure to regulated sectors, infrastructure, transport or public sector contracting would be advantageous but is not essential.
