Summary: The Lead Software Engineer (Python / Django) will be responsible for shaping technical direction and improving engineering practices while delivering robust back-end systems. This role involves leading the design and delivery of innovative digital services critical to national infrastructure. The position requires collaboration within agile teams and a focus on building scalable, resilient software solutions. Candidates must have strong experience in Python and Django, along with the ability to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC clearance).
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the design and delivery of scalable software systems, translating user needs into well-defined technical solutions.
- Develop secure, high-quality, test-driven code and take ownership of live service performance, ensuring consistency and reliability.
- Collaborate closely with developers, business analysts, and UCD specialists across multiple work-streams.
- Ensure integration across complex systems while driving continuous improvement in engineering practices.
Key Skills:
- Strong experience with Python and Django.
- Eligibility to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC clearance).
- Proven experience in system design and architecture (end-to-end).
- Experience working in agile, multidisciplinary teams.
