Summary: This role is for a Lead Security Architect within an organization focused on secure digital delivery for defense and national security. Key Responsibilities:

  • Leading security architecture across complex defence and security programmes
  • Owning risk management activities using recognised frameworks and methodologies
  • Designing proportionate security architectures aligned to system criticality
  • Setting the strategic direction for security across multiple projects
  • Working closely with software, infrastructure, DevSecOps and cyber teams to embed security by design
  • Producing assurance evidence to meet MOD and regulatory requirements
  • Developing options and mitigations to address technical and architectural vulnerabilities
  • Collaborating with wider IT architects and subject matter experts to deliver joined-up solutions
  • Engaging with assurance and accreditation stakeholders throughout the system lifecycle

Key Skills:

  • Strong background in security architecture within defence or highly regulated environments
  • Hands-on risk management experience using frameworks such as NIST 800-53
  • Proven ability to design and select security controls across networks, endpoints, identity, cryptography and data
  • Experience delivering secure-by-design solutions across on-prem and cloud platforms
  • Solid understanding of MOD security standards (e.g. JSP 604 / 453) and assurance artefacts
  • Excellent written skills for producing high-quality security and design documentation
  • Eligibility for UK government security clearance (or currently holding clearance)

Introduction This organisation sits at the sharp end of secure digital delivery, supporting mission-critical programmes across defence and national security. They’re growing quickly and need a Lead Security Architect to shape how complex, high-assurance systems are designed, delivered and assured.

Role Overview: Location: Farnborough based (Hybrid / flexible working depending on project) Industry: Defence & National Security / Secure Technology Security Clearance: Must have valid clearance to SC level or higher

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Leading security architecture across complex defence and security programmes
