Summary: The Lead SAS Developer will play a pivotal role in a major government transformation programme, focusing on designing and delivering complex data integration and software solutions. This position requires a strong leader who can guide technical decisions, mentor engineers, and ensure best practices throughout the development life cycle. The role demands advanced expertise in SAS technologies and the ability to work collaboratively in a multi-team environment. SC clearance is required for this position, which is hybrid with 2-3 days onsite in Newcastle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, and enhance SAS-based software solutions across enterprise systems
- Lead the implementation of robust ETL pipelines and data integration processes
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless system integration
- Take ownership of technical decision-making and contribute to programme-wide strategy
- Conduct testing, debugging, and optimisation to maintain high-quality deliverables
- Mentor junior team members and foster a culture of continuous improvement
- Stay current with emerging technologies and industry best practices
Key Skills:
- Advanced expertise in SAS Data Integration Studio
- Strong experience in custom application development and software engineering principles
- Proven capability with SAS DataFlux ETL tools
- Experience with SAS Event Stream Processing (highly desirable)
- Demonstrated leadership experience within complex delivery environments
- Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills

The OpportunityAs a Lead SAS Developer, you will take ownership of designing and delivering complex data integration and software solutions within a large-scale, multi-team environment. Acting as a subject matter expert, you will lead from the front-guiding technical decisions, mentoring engineers, and ensuring best practice across the development life cycle.
