Summary: The Lead Quality Engineer will oversee quality assurance for operational projects within a prominent engineering services organization. This role involves evaluating and certifying quality, proposing improvements, and ensuring compliance with international standards. The position is contract-based for an initial 12 months, with potential for extension until 2028. The ideal candidate will possess relevant qualifications and experience in quality engineering, particularly in modular fabrication and heavy plant processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate, verify and certify quality across specified operational projects.
  • Propose and embed quality improvements, monitor, analyze, and report on delivery performance.
  • Review and accept operational documentation or project supplier quality submissions.
  • Define Quality and Lifetime Record strategies for operational plants or contracts.
  • Ensure adequate document and records management arrangements are implemented.
  • Provide technical advice on operational or project functions.
  • Investigate quality-related concerns and identify corrective/preventive actions.
  • Provide oversight and assurance of the quality management system.
  • Advise users on quality matters.

Key Skills:

  • Qualified quality engineer with experience in modular fabrication.
  • CSWIP 3.1/3.2 certification - essential.
  • NDT qualifications.
  • Familiarity with international standards (ASME, API, EN, ISO).
  • Other QA qualifications, such as Lead Auditor and root cause analysis.
  • Experience in heavy plant processes and oil & gas background.
  • Strong lead inspections/audit experience.
  • Experience managing site QC personnel deployment.
  • Good working knowledge of fabrication activities.

Lead Quality Engineer £47 per hour (outside IR35) + collaborative team environment + long-term project work till 2028

Our client, a highly successful engineering services organisation employing 60,000+ individuals globally, is looking for a Lead Quality Engineer for an initial 12mth contract (rolling).

Lead Quality Engineer remit includes:

  • Evaluate, verify and certify quality across specified operational projects.
  • Propose and embed quality improvements where necessary, monitor, analyse and report on the quality of delivery performance on specific projects.
  • Review and acceptance of relevant operational documentation or project supplier quality submissions.
  • Define Quality and Lifetime Record strategies for an operational plant, project or contract where appropriate.
  • Provide assurance that adequate document and records management arrangements are implemented.
  • Provision of technical advice on operational or project functions.
  • Investigate quality related concerns and events, and identify appropriate corrective / preventive action, escalating quality issues.
  • Provide oversight and assurance of the quality management system, including advice to users on quality matters.

Lead Quality Engineer profile:

  • Qualified quality Engineer with previous experience in modular fabrication.
  • Must have CSWIP 3.1/3.2 - essential.
  • NDT qualifications.
  • Fully conversant with relevant general international standards (ASME, API, EN, ISO).
  • Other QA qualifications, Lead Auditor, root cause analysis etc.
  • A Heavy Plant Process / Oil & Gas background.
  • Strong Lead inspections / audit experience.
  • Experience managing the deployment of site QC personnel.
  • Good working knowledge of all fabrication activities.
