Summary: We are seeking an SC Cleared Lead Python Engineer to join our technology team in London/Staines. This role focuses on leading development efforts and delivering scalable solutions in cloud-native environments, particularly on Azure. The engineer will guide team members and play a crucial role in designing and deploying systems using modern tools and infrastructure. The position offers opportunities for mentorship and working on impactful projects with the latest technologies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and contribute to the design, development, and deployment of Python applications in a cloud-native ecosystem.
- Manage and edit Azure DevOps (ADO) pipelines using YAML and Bash scripting.
- Utilize Terraform for infrastructure as code (IaC) to provision and manage Azure resources.
- Collaborate with infrastructure teams to architect and troubleshoot Azure solutions, including integration with SDP architecture for secure connectivity.
- Support and improve deployment workflows using GitHub Actions and Git for CI/CD.
- Develop and maintain data processing pipelines using PySpark and Python.
- Interface with Java-based services and systems as needed.
- Use Azure CLI and scripting to automate routine cloud operations.
- Work with Microsoft Purview for data governance (training can be provided during handover).
- Troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues between on-premise data centers and cloud environments.
- Mentor junior engineers and drive best practices in code quality, testing, and DevOps workflows.
Key Skills:
- Strong Python development experience, with a focus on writing clean, efficient, and scalable code.
- Scripting proficiency in Bash, particularly for automation within ADO pipelines.
- Strong command of Azure CLI for managing resources and automation.
- Familiarity with Git and GitHub Actions for version control and CI/CD integration.
- Practical knowledge of PySpark for distributed data processing.
- Working understanding of Java – ability to read, debug, and interface with Java systems.
