Detailed Description From Employer:

My government client is seeking a Lead Oracle DBA for a new contract role;

  • Works under minimal direction. Full accountability for own work. Establishes own milestones and works with others to manage objectives and prioritise assignments. Work is often self-initiated for the benefit of the business. Reference to line manager will be taken for activities where complex prioritisation is required or where requiring budgetary approval.
  • Takes initiative to keep own skills up to date and advise organisation and Technology Senior Manager around opportunities for emerging technologies. Can analyse user requirements and advise users on scope and options for operational improvement. Demonstrates creativity and innovation in applying solutions for the benefit of the user which may be within the organisation or external customers.
  • Develops standards, methods, tools and applications in own area of specialisation and can make correct choices from alternatives. Can analyse, diagnose, plan, execute and evaluate work to time, cost and quality targets.
  • Provides day to day operational support for complex problems of the database estate. This will often involve making decisions that affect the delivery of critical computer systems impacting internal and external customer platforms and systems.
  • Has authority to make decisions about the design of components or sub-subsystems.
  • Has the authority to review the work of others (including external suppliers), providing authorisation to integrate work, and guidance on improving it.
  • Has the authority to set organisation-wide standards in their field of expertise.
  • Will contribute to the knowledge pool for design, implementation and support decisions related to Enterprise Applications technology particularly around enterprise database platforms.
  • Has substantial personal responsibility and autonomy for complex support activities and delivery of projects
  • Takes responsibility for personal development working with others to develop and build capability

The specific technical requirements are:-

Extensive experience in Oracle 19 database technologies in a 3rd line support and technical design capacity, including Dataguard, RMAN and OEM Grid to manage and optimise the database estate.

Experience with Oracle in a Windows environment preferable.

Expertise with analysing Oracle database platforms to identify performance or reliability improvements or to debug complex operational incidents.
