Summary: The Lead Mechanical Rotating Engineer will provide technical support and drive reliability improvements for rotating and static equipment in the oil and gas sector. This hybrid role involves planning maintenance activities, conducting root cause analysis, and collaborating with contractors to ensure compliance with engineering standards. The position also includes contributions to project activities and acting as a technical authority for equipment systems. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in oil and gas environments and a degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide technical support to operations and maintenance teams on live operational assets
- Drive reliability improvement and asset performance initiatives for both onshore and offshore facilities
- Plan and prioritise maintenance activities for rotating and static equipment
- Conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and implement performance improvements
- Support minor modifications and upgrade projects (MOC)
- Collaborate with contractors and manage technical scope delivery
- Ensure compliance with relevant engineering standards and regulatory requirements
- Contribute to project activities including HAZOP, SIL reviews, and technical studies
- Act as technical authority for rotating and lifting equipment systems
- Support decommissioning and energy transition projects
Key Skills:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar discipline
- Substantial experience within oil & gas or heavy industrial environments
- Proven background working with rotating equipment, power generation, or lifting systems
- Experience supporting live operational assets, onshore or offshore
- Strong understanding of maintenance, reliability, and risk-based methodologies
- Familiarity with UK and EU engineering standards and regulations
- Chartered or working towards chartered status (IMechE or equivalent)
- Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
