Summary: The Lead Internal Auditor will be responsible for overseeing audit programmes, ensuring effective delivery within set scopes and timelines. The role requires a qualified accountant or IIA with extensive experience in risk-based operational audits across various sectors. Strong leadership, communication, and analytical skills are essential, along with proficiency in data analytics. The position is based in London with a hybrid working arrangement of three days in the office per week.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the Audit Team and execute the audit programme following the objectives set by and under the supervision of the Audit Manager.
- Deliver audits according to the scope and time estimate in the agreed Terms of Reference (ToR).
- Prepare the draft ToR, the Audit Programme and the Audit Report, based on data analytics where applicable.
- Review the audit work carried out by the Audit Team to confirm that Auditors properly conclude on the work performed.
- Coach and train the Audit Team.
- Maintain constructive working relationships with Auditee.
Key Skills:
- Professional qualification - qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) or IIA.
- Significant experience on risk-based operational audits including but not limited to asset management, corporate functions, health & safety, capital programmes.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - written and verbal, including report writing.
- Ability to be a team player and to take the lead when appropriate.
- Good problem solving, decision making and analytical skills.
- Experience with data analytics.
- Experience of working in transport, construction, energy, and other similar industries (desirable).
- Risk management experience and/or controls and assurance experience (desirable).
