Summary: The Lead Instrument Designer will oversee a small team in delivering instrumentation and telecommunication design for the Abadi LNG greenfield project. This role involves managing design tasks, ensuring adherence to project standards, and collaborating with various engineering disciplines. The position is based in Leatherhead and offers a competitive hourly rate. The contract duration is 8 months with an immediate start date.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage a design team on greenfield projects, allocating work and monitoring progress and quality.
  • Prepare and review a wide range of instrumentation and telecom deliverables, including block diagrams, instrument indexes, location layouts, hook-ups and installation drawings, cable schedules and cable routing layouts, material take-offs (MTOs) and bills of material (BoMs), control room and rack room layouts.
  • Ensure all design work is carried out in accordance with project standards, procedures and specifications.
  • Collaborate closely with other disciplines (Electrical, Piping, etc.) to provide instrumentation and telecom inputs and resolve interface issues.
  • Support the Lead Engineer in developing specifications and other design documentation.
  • Promote and ensure adherence to company and project HSE, quality and technical standards.

Key Skills:

  • Strong background in Instrumentation design, ideally within LNG, oil & gas or large process plant projects.
  • Proven experience leading or mentoring a team of designers.
  • Proficient in 3D drafting software packages.
  • Experienced user of SmartPlant Instrumentation (SPI) database application.
  • Hands-on experience in 3D modelling and extracting drawings from 3D models.
  • Skilled in developing cable tray layouts and location layouts using MicroStation.
  • Experience preparing material take-offs and bills of material.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively in a multi-discipline environment.

Salary (Rate): £50.00 Hourly
