Summary: PE Global is seeking two Lead Engineers for a contract role with a leading power and energy solutions company in Birmingham. The position offers a hybrid working pattern and involves coordinating design teams, managing project budgets, and conducting risk assessments. The role is focused on ensuring optimal designs and documentation throughout project phases.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate and support the design team during project design and execution phases.
- Support the tendering team to ensure safe, robust, and optimal designs and documentation.
- Liaise with project management on engineering budgets and provide cost forecasts.
- Manage the programme and interface with planning engineers for design.
- Approve documentation in accordance with contractual requirements.
- Coordinate and chair design reviews and hazard reviews.
- Identify and manage additional risks across functions.
- Support the Project Manager in overall project risk and opportunity assessments.
- Undertake the Principal Designer Representative role on projects.
Key Skills:
- NG LCDAE experience.
- 5 years of experience in the electricity supply industry.
- Knowledge of Transmission or Distribution practices (400kV to 11 kV).
- HNC/HND in electrical engineering or equivalent.
- Good teamwork, analytical, and communication skills.
- Capable of working to tight time scales.
- Commercial acumen.
- Degree qualification in Electrical Power Engineering is desirable.

PE Global is currently recruiting for two Lead Engineers for a global leader in power and energy solutions company based in Birmingham. This is an initial 6 months contract position offering hybrid working pattern. Daily rate is £278.24 - £593.60 PAYE or £368.68- £791.51 Umbrella depending on experience.
Duties of the role/Responsibilities
- To coordinate and support the design team during project design and execution phases, and to support the tendering team to ensure that safe, robust, and optimal designs and documentation are produced
- To liaise with project management on engineering budgets and to provide forecast cost to complete estimates and associated justification to changes in expenditure.
- To manage the programme and to interface with the planning engineers for design. Providing forecasts for completion and resource planning.
- To approve documentation in accordance with the contractual requirements of the project.
- To coordinate and chair design reviews and hazard reviews.
- To identify and manage additional risks across functions that may not be apparent to individual Designers.
- Evaluates risks and opportunities, strategizes mitigation of the risks.
- Supports the Project Manager in overall project risk and opportunity assessments and implementation of resulting actions.
- To undertake the Principal Designer Representative on projects.
Education/Experience
- NG LCDAE experience is required.
- 5 years Electricity supply industry experience
- Knowledge of Transmission or Distribution practices (400kV to 11 kV)
- HNC/HND in electrical engineering or equivalent
- Good team work, Analytical and communication skills
- Capable of working to tight time scales
- Commercial acumen
- Degree qualification in Electrical Power Engineering would be desirable
