Summary: The Lead DevOps Engineer role requires an experienced professional with active SC Security Clearance to support critical public services in the UK. The position involves leading the design and implementation of scalable cloud-based infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines within an agile team. Candidates will mentor junior engineers and ensure the security and resilience of digital platforms. This long-term contract role is inside IR35 and offers a competitive salary range based on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design, implementation, and operation of scalable cloud-based infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Mentor and coach DevOps engineers, sharing best practices and fostering a high-performance culture.
  • Build and support secure, resilient platforms to meet the demands of modern digital services.
  • Engage with multiple stakeholders in a complex, multi-disciplinary environment.

Key Skills:

  • Active SC Security Clearance or ability to obtain it.
  • Strong DevOps experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and automation.
  • Expertise in Unix/Linux (RHEL/CentOS) and scripting with Bash, Python, or Go.
  • Significant experience with AWS cloud infrastructure.
  • Deep understanding of IaC tools: Terraform, Packer, CloudFormation.
  • Proven leadership in multidisciplinary delivery teams.
  • Skills in Databases: MongoDB / Atlas, Messaging: Kafka, Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk.
  • Experience in designing and implementing best practices using Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools.
  • Experience with containerization technologies: Kubernetes, ECS/Fargate, Nomad.
  • Knowledge of security principles: Hashicorp Vault, PKI, TLS, NCSC Principles.
  • Networking skills: VPC Peering, DNS, Service Mesh.
  • Identity & Device Management: Keycloak, Entra ID, JAMF, Okta.

Lead DevOps Engineers –SC Security Clearance- Essential Expereince

  • Active SC Security Clearance or the ability to undergo Sc Security Clearance
  • Strong DevOps experience with CI/CD, infrastructure as code, and automation
  • Expertise in Unix/Linux (RHEL/CentOS) and scripting with Bash, Python, or Go
  • Significant experience with AWS cloud infrastructure
  • Deep understanding of IaC tools: Terraform, Packer, CloudFormation
  • Proven leadership in multidisciplinary delivery teams
  • Skills in Databases: MongoDB / Atlas, Messaging: Kafka, Observability: Prometheus, Grafana, Splunk
  • Experience of working in a DevOps environment - favouring and implementing Continuous Integration & Deployment over manual processes.
  • Experience of designing, implementing, securing and supporting Unix/Linux based platforms (ideally RHEL / CentOS) and developing solutions using scripting languages (Bash, Python, Go)
