Summary: The Lead AWS DevOps Engineer will serve as a technology lead for Kubernetes within on-premise data centers, focusing on automation initiatives across hybrid cloud environments. This role involves designing infrastructure for CI/CD pipelines, providing technical guidance, and driving continuous improvement. The position is a 6-month contract based in Bristol with a hybrid working arrangement. The role is classified as inside IR35.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and build infrastructure to ensure efficient continuous updates and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Act as the technical lead for Kubernetes and automation technologies, providing guidance and support to other IT teams.
  • Lead automation efforts to achieve a fully automated, hands-off data centre environment.
  • Provide strategic technical leadership to align automation and Kubernetes initiatives with business objectives.
  • Integrate infrastructure management processes with DevSecOps technologies.
  • Act as an escalation point for incidents, major incidents, and problem management.
  • Manage and optimize monitoring and alerting services.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation including standards, policies, and processes.
  • Mentor and coach junior team members.
  • Drive process improvements and manage technical priorities effectively.

Key Skills:

  • Expert level experience with Kubernetes and container technologies.
  • Linux Administration experience, preferably with CentOS or RedHat.
  • Strong understanding of DevOps methodologies and supporting tools.
  • Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Puppet, or Ansible.
  • Experience using CI/CD tools like Jenkins or GitLab CI.
  • AWS workload management experience (certifications are a plus).
  • Strong scripting/coding skills in Python or Ruby.
  • Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
  • Experience in managing mission-critical platforms.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage with stakeholders.

Salary (Rate): 450
