Summary: The Lead AWS DevOps Engineer will serve as a technology lead for Kubernetes within on-premise data centers, focusing on automation initiatives across hybrid cloud environments. This role involves designing infrastructure for CI/CD pipelines, providing technical guidance, and driving continuous improvement. The position is a 6-month contract based in Bristol with a hybrid working arrangement. The role is classified as inside IR35.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and build infrastructure to ensure efficient continuous updates and CI/CD pipelines.
- Act as the technical lead for Kubernetes and automation technologies, providing guidance and support to other IT teams.
- Lead automation efforts to achieve a fully automated, hands-off data centre environment.
- Provide strategic technical leadership to align automation and Kubernetes initiatives with business objectives.
- Integrate infrastructure management processes with DevSecOps technologies.
- Act as an escalation point for incidents, major incidents, and problem management.
- Manage and optimize monitoring and alerting services.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation including standards, policies, and processes.
- Mentor and coach junior team members.
- Drive process improvements and manage technical priorities effectively.
Key Skills:
- Expert level experience with Kubernetes and container technologies.
- Linux Administration experience, preferably with CentOS or RedHat.
- Strong understanding of DevOps methodologies and supporting tools.
- Proficiency with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and configuration management tools such as Terraform, Puppet, or Ansible.
- Experience using CI/CD tools like Jenkins or GitLab CI.
- AWS workload management experience (certifications are a plus).
- Strong scripting/coding skills in Python or Ruby.
- Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
- Experience in managing mission-critical platforms.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to engage with stakeholders.
