Our Glasgow based client has a new opportunity for a Lead DevOps Engineer for an initial 6 month contract.
The successful candidate will provide technical leadership, mentorship and delivery capability to an established team tasked with building a new platform to meet legislative and long-term business needs.
Essential Skills / Experience
- Best Practice secure infrastructure
- AWS & associated tooling
- Networking
- Linux (CentOS or RHEL)
- Automation Tooling: e.g. Ansible, Puppet, Terraform
- Monitoring & Alerting
Technology knowledge
- Best Practice AWS Architectures (i.e. Immutable Infrastructure, IaC, Ephemeral Infrastructure)
- MySQL compatible DBs: MySQL, RDS, Aurora, MariaDB
- Build Pipeline automation, CI/CD
- Build Tooling: Packer, Vault, Git, SonarQube, Jenkins
- Government Cloud Security standards (NIST, OWASP, CIS, NCSC etc )
- BASH, Python
- RESTful microservices
- IT Service Management
Other Skills required
- Making and guiding decisions
- Bridging the gap between the technical and non-technical
- Translate technical concepts between infrastructure, delivery management and service management so they are understood by all
- Able to speak on behalf of technical and service management teams and facilitate the relationships with indirect stakeholders
- Demonstrable ability in to sharing knowledge and mentoring (potentially non-technical) colleagues
- Understands technical governance and can participate in or deliver the assurance of a service
- Understands government requirements of governance, auditability and accountability
