Key Responsibilities:
- Recommend a scalable, high-performing implementation architecture aligned to clients' needs.
- Define and document the migration design.
- Lead design thinking workshops and technical decision-making.
- Collaborate closely with the data engineering team and the client team to ensure design alignment and high-quality implementation.
- Consider and implement a templated approach, reusable pipelines, and core integration patterns in Matillion/Snowflake.
- Oversee code quality, documentation, and promote best practices.
- Actively engage in hands-on development alongside Data Engineers.
- Support the definition of test approach.
Key Skills:
- Proven hands-on experience with Snowflake, including performance tuning, architecture design, and data integration.
- Experience with Matillion is highly preferred.
- Ability to define and document migration design and lead design thinking workshops.
- Experience working collaboratively with client teams and internal data engineering teams.

What you’ll do: Billigence are looking for an experienced Lead Data Engineer to join our team on an initial 3-month contract, outside IR35. Recommend a scalable, high-performing implementation architecture aligned to clients' needs, considering all key requirements and constraints. Define and document the migration design. Lead design thinking workshops and technical decision-making. Collaborate closely with the data engineering team and the client team to ensure design alignment and high-quality implementation. Consider and implement a templated approach, reusable pipelines, and core integration patterns in Matillion/Snowflake. Oversee code quality, documentation, and promote best practices, and ensure high standards are used. Actively engage in hands-on development alongside Data Engineers, directly contributing to coding, troubleshooting, and delivering solutions. Supporting the definition of test approach.
What you'll need: Proven hands-on experience with Snowflake is essential, including performance tuning, architecture design, and data integration. Experience with Matillion is highly preferred; familiarity with developing reusable pipelines and integration patterns in Matillion is a strong advantage. Ability to define and document migration design, lead design thinking workshops, and make informed technical decisions. Experience working collaboratively with both client teams and internal data engineering teams to ensure alignment and high-quality delivery.
