Summary: The Lead Data Engineer role is a hands-on technical leadership position focused on architecting and building a modern core banking data platform using Snowflake. The successful candidate will be responsible for the end-to-end data platform, including ingestion, medallion layers, and reporting, while working with high-volume financial data. This position requires deep experience in Snowflake and modern banking data architectures, with a commitment to working on-site in London 2-3 days a week. The role is outside IR35 and offers a competitive daily rate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Architect and build all core data warehouse layers across Snowflake, including raw, staging, and curated financial domains
  • Ingest and model data from a core banking system
  • Integrate with an enterprise integration layer and manage streaming ingestion where Snowflake subscribes to event streams
  • Implement medallion architecture for financial datasets, ensuring accuracy, lineage, and auditability
  • Define data architecture standards, best practices, and governance across a greenfield platform
  • Act as the technical lead across the full data lifecycle including design, implementation, optimisation, and roll out

Key Skills:

  • Strong Snowflake engineering and architecture experience
  • Background in banking or financial services data platforms
  • Experience working with core banking data
  • Demonstrated ability to build streaming ingestion and event driven pipelines

Lead Data Engineer - Urgent Contract Role - (Snowflake + Core Banking) Outside IR35 | £650-750/day | 2-3 days on-site in London | Initial 6 months | ASAP start

We’re supporting a financial services organisation standing up an entirely new banking data function, building a modern core banking platform using Snowflake. This is a hands on technical leadership role responsible for architecting, designing, and building the full end to end data platform: ingestion, medallion layers, data warehouse stores, and downstream reporting. You’ll be working across high volume financial data, streaming pipelines, and a modern cloud native stack. You’ll own the delivery of scalable data foundations, medallion structured financial models, and operational reporting capabilities consumed across the business. You must be able to operate autonomously and bring deep experience in Snowflake and modern banking data architectures. You also must be available within the next 2 weeks and willing to go into a Central London office 2-3 days per week.
