We are seeking a contract Lead Data Engineer for an initial 3-6mth project to create and manage the technological part of data infrastructure to thrive in a team oriented, collaborative environment.

Responsibilities:

• Data mining and assembling large, complex sets of data from external and internal sources, including managing data feeds through APIs and Scripting
• Identifying, designing and implementing internal process improvements including re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, optimizing data delivery, and automating manual processes
• Building required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from various data sources using AWS and SQL technologies, participate in data migration projects
• Building analytical tools (ie leveraging Tableau) to utilize the data pipeline, providing actionable insight into key business performance metrics including operational efficiency and fund capital deployment
• Ensure data quality and accuracy by implementing data quality checks, and data governance processes

Essential Requirements and skills

• Proficiency in data engineering tools, including Python/R
• Advanced SQL skills
• Experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI or Databricks
• Familiarity with data warehousing concepts, understanding of Snowflake, AWS etc.
• Understanding of business requirements and identifying opportunities to innovate.
• Willingness to step out of comfort zone and learn modern data engineering practices and trends.
• Impeccable attention to detail
• Self-starter with ability to multi-task and efficiently manage time and workload
