Summary: The role of Lead Data Architect involves leading the design and implementation of advanced data platform solutions specifically within the Retail and CPG sectors. The successful candidate will assess existing data environments and develop integration and migration strategies to enhance connected data ecosystems. This position requires extensive experience in data engineering and architecture, particularly with major cloud data platforms. Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of existing data platforms, including data flows, governance, performance, and cost drivers.
- Design secure and efficient cross-platform data sharing and analytics integration patterns.
- Define and develop target state architecture, including data engineering, storage, ML/AI, BI, security, and governance.
- Contribute to the creation of reference architectures, pattern catalogues, and technical guardrails.
- Develop migration strategies tailored to specific domains and use cases, balancing refactoring and lift-and-shift approaches.
- Collaborate closely with engineering and platform teams to validate solutions, identify risks, and refine technical options.
Key Skills:
- 8+ years of experience in data engineering and platform roles, with 3–5 years focused on architecture.
- Proven hands-on experience with at least two major cloud data platforms (e.g., Databricks, Snowflake, BigQuery) in production environments.
- Strong understanding of cross-cloud integration, networking, identity management, and data governance.
- Experience leading large-scale data platform modernization, consolidation, or migration projects.
- Excellent technical documentation skills and the ability to communicate complex architecture options to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Industry experience in Retail/CPG, with familiarity with key data domains such as POS, consumer insights, trade promotions, supply chain, and finance.
