Summary: The Lead Controls Engineering Architect will play a pivotal role in a large-scale infrastructure transformation program for a global financial markets infrastructure organization. This senior architectural leadership position focuses on transitioning from manual compliance processes to an embedded controls framework, emphasizing automation and governance. The role requires extensive experience in infrastructure and compliance within regulated environments, particularly in financial services. The successful candidate will define and implement a Controls as Code and Policy as Code framework across various platforms.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Define the target-state Controls as Code and Policy as Code framework.
  • Assess current control maturity across server, database, and platform domains.
  • Design an embedded compliance model aligned to a product operating model.
  • Define standardised control patterns across Windows, Unix, database, and cloud estates.
  • Guide automation strategy leveraging Terraform, Ansible, PowerShell or equivalent tooling.
  • Provide leadership on secure-by-design infrastructure engineering principles.

Key Skills:

  • 10+ years’ experience in infrastructure, cloud, or platform engineering.
  • Proven experience implementing Controls as Code or Policy as Code frameworks.
  • Strong background in infrastructure governance and compliance within regulated environments.

They are delivering a programme to transition from manual, governance-led compliance to embedded controls engineered directly into infrastructure and platform services. The objective is to move from reactive audit processes to controls as code, policy as code, and continuous audit readiness across on-prem and cloud estates.
