Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage substation civil engineering and construction activities from early project engagement to handover.
  • Develop project requirements, cost estimates, project plans, and budgets.

  • Monitor, control, and report on project progress, costs, and budget.

Rubicon Consulting is currently recruiting for a Lead Civil Engineer on a 6 month contract based In the Glasgow.

Role Summary
The Lead Civil Engineer is overall responsible for managing the substation civil engineering, construction- and contracting activities, from early project engagement through to construction. Starting with tendering activities together with Sales and ending with the hand-over to the service department a/o client, ensuring high quality results in line with project timescales and budget.

Requirements

  • To be qualified for this position, individual should have extensive experience in: Developing project requirements, cost estimates, project plans and budgets within the construction industry (preferably on large multi-million dollar projects)
  • Civil and structural design, ability to check and comment on civil documentation, designs and calculations in accordance with contractual requirements of tenders / projects
  • Assist in the negotiations and awarding of contracts
  • Monitor, control, and report on progress (costs and budget throughout the project)
  • Resolve disputes, negotiate change orders, communicate decisions to, client, subcontractors and management personnel
  • Assess and provide technical evaluation of subcontractors and participate in tender activities, including the production of technical specifications and supporting documentation.
  • Knowledge of UK Transmission System Operators (TSO) and similar major utilities.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards it is desirable.
